Financial Options Group donates £500 of food to help families this summer
News Story
We would like to say a huge thank you to Financial Options Group for their incredibly generous donation of £500 worth of food to FareShare Greater Manchester.
Earlier this week, the Bury-based company joined us at Tesco Bury to purchase £500 worth of essential food and household items, which will now be redistributed through our network of community food members across Greater Manchester.
The donation was made to support families facing increased pressure during the six-week summer holidays, when many children no longer have access to free school meals and household budgets are stretched even further.
The shopping included a wide range of cupboard staples such as tinned fruit and vegetables, dried pasta, pasta sauces, cereals, tea, fruit juice and biscuits, alongside tinned meats including corned beef, meatballs, curries and tuna. Nappies, toilet roll and essential toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower gel and deodorant were also donated.
The generous contribution filled 24 warehouse trays when it arrived back at our New Smithfield Market warehouse. In total, Financial Options Group donated 240kg of food and essential items – enough to provide the equivalent of 5,517 meals for people experiencing food insecurity.
We were also delighted to receive additional donations from Tesco Bury customers, who have been supporting the store’s Summer Food Drive by purchasing pre-packed bags of food for FareShare Greater Manchester. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that charities and community groups have the food they need to support local people throughout the summer.
Together, these donations will now be redistributed to our Community Food Members – including charities, community centres, pantries and other local organisations across Greater Manchester, with many benefiting communities in Bury.
A huge thank you to everyone at Financial Options Group and to the generous customers of Tesco Bury. Your kindness and support will make a real difference to families who need it most this summer.
